Liam's Story

Enlisting in the Army in 2006 just before his 18th birthday, Liam was wounded by an IED explosion in 2008 when a roadside bomb exploded on a routine patrol in Iraq. The explosion sent shrapnel flying at Liam’s face and robbed him of his left eye and most of the sight in his right, retaining only 2% of vision. Having undergone treatment for his physical wounds, Liam is now investing his time in his music and sharing his story to inspire others.

In 2013, Liam decided as part of his rehabilitation, he would raise money and awareness for Soldier On, and launched the inaugural One Foot Forward March. Walking more than 350kms between Sydney and Canberra, he trekked for 2 weeks, joined by the likes of former Prime Minister John Howard and former and current Chiefs of the Defence Force and Army.

Raising over $50,000 for the charity, Liam was greeted by Former Governor General, Quentin Bryce AC CVO, when he arrived at the Australian War Memorial. He hopes to make the walk a bi-annual event and is planning for his next walk in 2015.
